FAQ
Do you offer group lessons or private
lessons?
We do offer both private and group lessons at all levels. For a full list
of the types of tuition, please visit our services area.
When can I start my lessons?
Private lessons can be started as soon as the following day, other tuition types
require more preparation. Please contact us for more information.
Can I have lessons at home?
Yes. If you live in London, Birmingham, Manchester, or Leeds, we can provide
lessons at your home for a minimum of a 2 hour lesson.
Should I learn Cantonese or Mandarin?
Mandarin is the most widely spoken language throughout China, Taiwan, Singapore
and Hong Kong, and is the native language of China, Taiwan and Singapore. If
you are intending to travel, work or do business in China, then Mandarin is
the way to go. However, if you are planning to work in Hong Kong or other southern
regions of China, Cantonese may be preferable, please contact us for more advice
on your particular interest.
Do you teach Mandarin with a Chinese
accent or Taiwanese accent?
We teach you Mandarin with a standard accent. The truth is educated people
in Mainland China and Taiwanese television or radio broadcasters speak Mandarin
with little difference. However, Taiwanese people generally speak with a stronger
accent. Our tutors come from Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei, and they
speak Mandarin as a first language with standard Mandarin pronunciation.
Do you teach Simplified Chinese
Characters or Traditional Chinese Characters?
We teach both. However, for beginners, we recommend learning simplified Chinese
characters used by Mainland China and Singapore, and Chinese communities in
continental Europe. We also teach traditional Chinese characters used by people
in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Chinese communities in the United States and
the United Kingdom.
