Classic Chinese
We recommend our Classic Chinese study plan which includes conversational
Chinese, Chinese characters and Chinese etiquette. There are three entry levels
for Classic Chinese lessons as follows;
Classic beginners Chinese lessons
Objective:
Students will be able to conduct daily conversations with native speakers and also
have a command of approximately 1,000 words, 200 pattern sentences and 3,000 commonly
used sentences in everyday life.
Course text: Chinese in steps I, including topics;
- Hello
- My name is Wang Jing
- Mr. Wang is British
- What is the date today?
- He writes Chinese characters every evening
- I can speak a little Chinese
- Do you have Beijing roast duck
- There are four people in my family
- Beijing is hotter than London in summer
- How do you get to the shops
Prerequisites:
None
Recommended hours: 48+
Classic intermediate Chinese lessons
Objective:
Students will be able to conduct daily conversations with native speakers and also
have a command of approximately 1,000 words, 200 pattern sentences and 3,000 commonly
used sentences in everyday life.
Course text: Chinese in steps II, including topics;
- Where is the British library?
- How much is a bottle of mineral water?
- When does the canteen open?
- How long it will take to walk to the hospital?
- The pound sterling has gone up
- I came by bus
- You speak Chinese very fluently
- What are you doing?
- The computer I have just brought is cheap and good
- Have you been to the great wall?
Prerequisites:
Students will be expected to be able to converse in daily conversations with native speakers and also
have a command of approximately 1,000 words, 200 pattern sentences and 3,000 commonly
used sentences in everyday life.
Recommended hours: 96+
Classic advanced Chinese lessons
Objective:
Advanced Chinese is geared towards a specialised subject domain and as such is generally
tailored to the individual goals of the student. Students can also provide a selection
of advanced subjects to study if required.

The ‘Chinese character reading and writing’ test requires
your being able to type Chinese on your computer. If you are unable to
use Chinese characters, make an appointment with us and we will be more
than happy to test you on one of our computers.

Chinese-Zone provides a ‘Chinese-Zone Chinese Certified’
certificate indicating your proficiency in Chinese. Once the relevant
proficiency level has been achieved, we encourage our students to sit
